As early as 1887, David Duncan Main, an Englishman, founded a leprosy hospital in Hangzhou. In 1921, Stephen Douglas Sturton, a British medical doctor, was concurrently the president of Guangji Hospital (the predecessor of our hospital) and the president of Guangji Leprosy Hospital.
